I'd love to see your photos from the 80s, if you don't mind sending them! Maybe the place looked more how I remember, though I was visiting in the 90s. You can email me at sara@ this domain (infiniteview.co.uk) - I'll drop you an email too.

They are doing some regeneration work in Morecambe, and the motorway link has been approved so maybe that will bring more people in that direction... or maybe it'll just help them drive past more quickly... :/

My brother (chris) and i used to got to frontierland every year from about 1984 to 1990. Its just so sad to see what has happened to all those happy memories. I agree with sara, it was quite adventurous, like the fun house, which when i was younger seemed to have one of the scariest slides on earth(the kamakazie) sheer drop and always hurt my bum on the way down! Dodgems were always a favourite with my brother and i, and the ghost train we just used to like jumping off half way round and scaring other kids. I have some photos of frontierland from the late 80's if anyone is interested, unfortunatly they are of my family and i lol. i think they should return it to its former glory as soon as possible and get some much needed tourism back to morcambe!

It is sad isn't it. I remember it being a really good day out, but there seem so few photographs from the later years - the ones that do exist make it look so much like a 'kiddy ride' place too. I remember it being pretty adventurous. Not quite Alton Towers but not bad.
What sort of era were you visiting the park? My Dad and I actually walked back to try and recreate a photograph he found from the 60s I think, him and his friends stood in front of the large ferris wheel that got taken down some time ago now. We found it quite hard to work out where the ferris wheel would have been unfortunately.

Thanks for taking all the photos. Frontier Land I knew very well, I grew up going to Morecambe on holiday just about every year. The pictures are a window to see how the park is just now (I live in Scotland) and remind me of some of the great times I had there as a boy. But they also bring the reality home again of the grim outcome of a once truely wonderful theme park and childhood happy place.
